This weekend on the 19th of November during the FIA GT World Cup at Macau BMW will field their new BMW M6 GT3 Art Car, the car's artwork / design has been created by the Chinese Artist Cao Fei, who wanted to convey her feeling's concerning the speed of change in China as well as the traditions and future not only china holds but also the digital world. This will be the first ever digital BMW art car ever created the design is split into three parts, the first is a video exploring a time travelling spiritual practitioner, the third embraces the digital world by utilising augmented reality on the car itself you can download an app (App Store: BMW Art Car #18) and when viewed via the app the car will feature particles of light emitting from it and the third part is a simple non reflective black paint job honouring the cars carbon fibre structure as well as exploring the digital world.
Strakka Racing have announced that in 2018 the team will expand there operations outside of Europe, competing in the Intercontinental GT Challenge and in the Balncpain GT Series Endurance Cup. Strakka have dropped Mclaren for 2018 due to certain issues with the car, reliability being one of the main reasons along with changes in the tyre and BOP, These issues meant that the Strakka cars started mid grid, and starting mid grid can be a messy place to start, you have more chance of incidents with other cars etc, which is what happened, and its not where Strakka wanted to be.
Today Bentley have revealed their new GT3 racing car, and my word is it a beast it certainly looks the part with meaner lines and wider wheel arches similar to the BMW GT3.
2017 has been the best season so far for Bentley capturing the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup which is no easy feat. The new Continental GT3 will make it's first race debut at the opening round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Monza, Italy.
Fantastic news for motorsports fans, Fernando Alonso is reported (not 100%) to be testing the Toyota TS050 Hybrid on the 19th of November during the Bahrain practice session, does this mean Alonso is on the road to winning the fabled triple crown? which certainly is no easy feat. Only one driver in the history of motorsport has won the triple crown he goes by the name of Graham Hill. The triple crown consists of the Indy 500, Monaco GP and the Le Mans 24Hrs and are arguably some of the hardest and most competitive races on the planet. I would absolutely love to see Fernando Alonso win the triple crown and truly leave his mark on the world of motorsport in more ways that one.
Great news for the LMP1 class in the WEC and at Le mans, both Manor and DragonSpeed have confirmed they will be entering the LMP1 class next year, which gives the class a much-needed boost due to Porsche and Audi pulling out of the LMP1 class and headed to Fomula E instead.
Pietro Fittipaldi, who not only shares the name of the great Emmerson fittipaldi, but is also his grandson will be given a test in the stunning Porsche LMP1 if he can win the extremely competitive Formula 3.5 V8 championship, The test will take place a day after the final Formula 3.5 V8 race is held, and competition is fierce as not only is an LMP1 test up for grabs, 2nd place will get to test an LMP2 and 3rd place will get to test a GTE Pro car. The test's could currently go to any of the drivers in the top 6 as they are all mathematically in contention for the championship title.
The Le Mans 24hrs is known as one of the toughest motorsports races in the world, breaking cars, drivers, teams and fans at times yet the allure always brings them back for more, none more so than Frédéric Sausset,
On October the 9th team villorba corse took their LMP2 to Paul Ricard for an intensive test day, The Dallara P217 LMP2 which was driven by Brazilian Felipe Nasr and Italian Giuseppe Ciprian completed over 80 laps which amounts to over 500 Kilometers with different setups being run throughout the day.
